1999:
Independent - Minimalist - Exuberant - Deep - Crazy - Calm -
Pain threshold - Lust for life
2025: Music is the soul - Images are the mirror - Text is the
memory - Vision is the origin - Everything begins with an
impulse
I
think the above words describe Monolab and the motivation of
the label's people very well. After several years of Radical
Rhythms and the goal of reaching as broad an
audience as possible with a purely digital label, perhaps
losing sight of my own creativity and objectives, I wanted to
take a new and very unique path with Monolab.
The focus should be more on the courage to try new sounds,
rather than on producing customized music. Life with and
within Monolab should be determined not so much
by the desires of the masses, but rather by my own wishes and
ideas.
With these words, I described and outlined the meaning and
motivation behind Monolab in 1999. In principle, this motto or
guiding principle remains, but circumstances have naturally
changed and evolved several times over the years. Be it due to
my health problems or my own motivation to continue working on
this project. This also explains why I remain, so to speak, as
the last Mohicans of the original group. In
addition to the reasons mentioned, there were also some
interpersonal problems, and logically, it doesn't make sense
to continue participating in a virtually dead project.
However, since I want to preserve the tradition and the old
releases are still available, it's logical that the people
involved from the past should also be mentioned. Also, keep in
mind that the lyrics are up to 26 years old, and we were all
young back then.
Ultimately, when downloading, you'd also wonder who the other
musicians are.

As the days, weeks, and months pass, your lifestyle
naturally changes, and you unfortunately no longer have the time
for your projects or hobbies that you'd like. While 25
years ago I could still invest a lot of time in my
music and projects, this is unfortunately no longer possible
today, and often I simply don't have the time to implement certain
things.
That's why, as mentioned above, I've been a lone fighter for
years, and there was and still is little motivation to change this
situation. Apart from that, the culture in our area
has changed ignificantly over the years. While demo or music
crews used to be common and numerous, much of it has now been
replaced by social media, and these connections are mere relics of
days gone by. Sometimes I feel like a dinosaur who
just can't stop and still asks myself > does all this still
make sense?
On the other hand, many of the actions and things you accomplish
in life don't always have a deeper meaning. If it gives you a
positive boost of peace of mind and you have tasks ahead of you,
then it can only be positive. This is why there was
another comeback in 2024, the website was renovated, and this is
why I started another "career" on YouTube.
I just can't stop. :-) If anyone isn't deterred and would like to
participate in this project regularly, just send me a short email
and share your idea. Guest starring is also
possible, of course.
Finally, a few words
about the technical side. Originally, there were Fasttracker XMs,
later Renoise XRNS, and now the MP3 standard. Due to my new
interest in artificial intelligence, there will also be videos
(MP4) or images (PNG) available for download. Generally, there
will be single releases, more rarely EPs/albums or, as with
Streets of Steel, special releases. Music videos will also be
produced for the respective tracks, but only starting with the
Perspective - Melodic Techno EP. These will always be available on
YouTube, possibly on the Monolab server – although YouTube,
of course, has a perfect player and my traffic won't be impacted.
The videos will not be available in the respective music (.zip)
downloads, but there will be an option to download the
Videos separately.
